Kubota SSV65 skid steer loader carrying a round bale on a bale spear, rear view, by a row of bales

Kubota SSV65 or SSV75: Which Closed-Cab Skid Steer?

Choose the SSV65 for bale handling, corral cleaning, snow and loader work on acreages and smaller operations: it's the lighter machine to haul. Choose the SSV75 if you need more lift and reach, for stacking bales higher or loading truck boxes.

Both are Kubota vertical-lift skid steers on wheels, sold with an open or a closed cab. The figures below are Kubota's for the closed-cab machines.

Side by Side

SSV65 SSV75
Engine power, gross 64 hp (47.7 kW) 71.6 hp (53.4 kW)
Rated operating capacity, 50% of tipping load 1,950 lb (885 kg) 2,690 lb (1,220 kg)
Operating weight, closed cab, with a 165 lb (75 kg) operator 7,319 lb (3,320 kg) 8,466 lb (3,840 kg)
Bucket hinge pin height 121.5 in (3,085 mm) 128.3 in (3,258 mm)
Reach 32.7 in (831 mm) 36.9 in (937 mm)
Auxiliary flow, standard 18 US gpm (68 L/min) 20.9 US gpm (79 L/min)
Auxiliary flow, with the high-flow option 28 US gpm (106 L/min) 30.4 US gpm (115 L/min)

The SSV65: The Lighter Machine

At 7,319 lb (3,320 kg) closed-cab, the SSV65 is 1,147 lb (520 kg) lighter than the SSV75. It's enough machine for bales, corrals, snow and general loader work, without the weight of the bigger frame to haul.

The SSV75: More Lift and Reach

A bigger frame with more lift and reach: the SSV75's bucket hinge pin reaches 128.3 in (3,258 mm), against 121.5 in (3,085 mm) on the SSV65, and its rated operating capacity is 2,690 lb (1,220 kg), against 1,950 lb (885 kg). That matters when you're stacking bales higher or loading into a truck box rather than a trailer.

Wheels or Tracks?

If your ground is often soft, compare the SVL track loaders, which carry their weight on tracks: Kubota lists the SVL75-3, SVL97-3 and SVL110-3 at a ground contact pressure of 4.8 psi (0.34 kg/cm²).

Common Questions

Do these come with a cab?

Both come with an open or a closed cab. The figures here are for the closed cab, which is pressurized to keep out dust, and Kubota says its air conditioning gives cooling and heating comfort throughout the year.

What's the difference between the 35% and 50% ratings?

Kubota rates a skid steer's operating capacity at 50% of its tipping load and a track loader's at 35%, so the two aren't directly comparable. Kubota lists its track loaders at 50% too: the SVL75-3's is 3,557 lb (1,613 kg).

Can I run high-flow attachments?

Yes, with the high-flow option: it raises the auxiliary flow from 18 to 28 US gpm (68 to 106 L/min) on the SSV65, and from 20.9 to 30.4 US gpm (79 to 115 L/min) on the SSV75.
