Who we are
We are a 100% family-owned and operated dealership in northern Alberta. Jim Backus founded Grande Prairie Kubota in 2014, after more than 30 years in sales, management and ownership roles at John Deere dealerships across Alberta and British Columbia. Jim passed away in 2026, and his experience and values still shape how we do business; JB, our own AI system, is named for him. His sons, Coleby and Dustin Backus, have been part of the dealership since day one, as Sales Manager and General Manager, and carry it forward. Coming from engineering careers in oil and gas, they bring analytical minds and different perspectives to the business. Alongside a high-performing team of sales, service and parts staff, many of whom have been with us for more than five years, we are committed to serving our customers with exceptional service.
What we do
As a full-line Kubota dealer, we offer a wide range of Kubota products to fit your equipment needs. Whether you're looking for ag tractors, compact tractors, construction equipment, utility vehicles or mowers, we have something for everybody. Land Pride, Kverneland and Great Plains are Kubota companies, and their implements come through us with the tractors.
Along with Kubota, we've been a Vermeer forage dealer since our inception in 2014, offering balers, rakes, mowers, processors and the innovative, self-propelled baler for our hay and ranch customers.

Mobile service
Kubota and Vermeer-trained service technicians that travel to you. No travel charge for warranty repairs within our service area.
Online parts store
Purchase the parts you need any time of day and have them shipped directly to you or pick up at your convenience.
Repairs carry 12 months on parts and labour
Keep your equipment running when you need it most. When we do the repair, replacement parts and labour are covered for 12 months.

Part numbers if you have them, a description if you do not. Adding the machine's model and serial number helps too — on some machines, the right part depends on the serial number.

Shop appointment, mobile service call, or pick-up and delivery — tell us the model and the symptom and we will come back with a plan and a cost estimate.
