Kubota SVL97-3 compact track loader carrying a pallet of bricks on pallet forks, side view

Buying a Pre-Owned Kubota SVL: What to Check

Check four things on any pre-owned SVL: the hours against the condition, the undercarriage (tracks, rollers, idlers and sprockets), the hydraulics and any high-flow circuit, and the service history.

Hours Tell Part of the Story

Hours show how long the engine has run, not how hard it worked. A loader that spent its life on snow and bales wears differently from one that ran a mulcher on rock. Ask what it did, not just how long.

Undercarriage: Look Closely

  • Tracks: look for cracks, cuts, exposed cords and worn lugs.
  • Sprockets: hooked or pointed teeth mean wear.
  • Rollers and idlers: check for flat spots, leaks and play.
  • Track tension: a track that keeps losing tension can point to a tensioner problem.

Hydraulics and High Flow

Run every function warm and cold. Look for slow cycle times, drift with the bucket raised, and leaks at hoses and couplers. If the machine has high flow, ask what it ran: a mulcher machine has worked harder than a bucket machine.

Cab, Electrical and Service History

Check the heat and air, the door, the glass and every gauge and warning light. Ask for the service records, and check them against the maintenance schedule in the operator's manual or the myKubota app.

Common Questions

Has a GPK pre-owned SVL been checked over?

Yes. Our shop does an initial check-over on the pre-owned units we sell. The work done is on the unit's listing, and the work order is available on request.

Can I finance a pre-owned SVL?

Yes. One financing application covers new or pre-owned.

Do you take trades?

Yes. Tell us the make, model, year, hours and condition when you ask for a quote.

Is a high-hour SVL a bad buy?

Not always. A well-maintained, high-hour machine with a fresh undercarriage can beat a low-hour machine that was neglected.
