Description

This 2016 Vermeer 605N round baler offers excellent versatility for hay and forage operations. It comes dual-equipped with both a full net wrap system and twine tie capability, giving you flexibility depending on crop conditions, storage plans, or end-customer preferences.

The net wrap side uses a proven, low-maintenance design featuring a steel pan and spreader bar, shear bar for clean cutting, and a mechanical friction-pad brake that maintains consistent tension while feeding.

An integrated moisture sensor provides real-time bale moisture readings via the cab display — a valuable tool for making informed decisions on curing and storage to protect hay quality and reduce spoilage risk.

Flotation tires improve ground contact, reduce soil compaction, and make pulling easier in softer or uneven field conditions — ideal for larger windrows or variable terrain.

With only approximately 20,000 bales, this unit has substantial service life remaining. It has been thoroughly inspected, refreshed, and prepared for immediate productive work.

Recent Major Service & Refresh (Full work order available upon request)

This baler recently underwent an extensive check-over and refresh at our Sexsmith shop, with significant parts and labor investment to ensure reliability:

• Pickup reel overhaul — 25 new heavy-duty & offset pickup tines, 20 nylon bushings for tine brackets, 7 cam rollers, 10 cam roller bearings, 40 can wipe seals, 30 cam & bracket wear washers, 2 C-bands, plus new gauge wheels (x2). Pickup timing and height adjusted.
• Driveline refresh — Replaced chains and sprockets across most of the baler (50, 60, and 80 series with matching connectors). All sprocket and chain tensioners replaced. Belt tension and air density system adjusted.
• New components installed — Windguard, twine rollers (x2), twine guide, rubber cover latch, crop diverter with rubber flappers (x4), upper & lower roller bearings, hydraulic ball valves on input hoses, PTO shield, and PTO gearbox oil.
• Inspection & testing — Complete cleaning, thorough inspection of belts, PTO u-joints, rubber rollers, density/brake gap, and electrical sensors/alarms. Full test run performed with bearing temperature checks — no hot spots or signs of impending failure found.

Over 20 hours of labor went into preparing this unit. Many wear components have been refreshed, minimizing immediate maintenance needs and maximizing uptime for the season.
